The Find Button, located at the bottom of the Edit Screen, can be used to locate any of various types of text in the survey data. When the Find Button is pressed, a small window comes up with various options. Select the check box (or check boxes) to indicate the type of text you want to search for. Options are Station Name, From Name, Survey Section, or Comment.
Enter the text you are looking for into the edit field (below the words “Search for . . .”) and press the Ok button. Searching for comments will locate any occurrence of the specified text within a station comment. Searching for names requires the entire name (spelled correctly) to be specified in order to be found. Upper and lower case are not important, since all text is compared as upper case by CavePlot anyway.
CavePlot starts searching at the shot following the active shot. If the end of the survey is reached before the specified text can be located, CavePlot continues from the beginning of the survey, until the current survey shot is again reached. If the specified text was still not located, CavePlot says "Not Found".
If CavePlot does locate the specified text, the editor is moved to the survey shot where the text was found and the edit field containing the text is highlighted.
Subsequent occurrences of the text may be found by pressing the find button again, since CavePlot starts searching from the current shot, rather than from the beginning of the survey file.
Exit Button
The Exit Button, located at the bottom of the Edit Window, is used to quit the Edit Screen and return to the main window of CavePlot. Using the exit button is optional, since closing the edit window window, or selecting an option from the pull-down menu will also exit the Edit Window.
